Hockey Announces 2000-01 Captains

Chestnut Hill, Mass. - Senior-to-be Brian Gionta has been elected captain of the 2000-2001 Boston College hockey team, according to an announcement made by head coach Jerry York.
Classmates Bobby Allen and Mike Lephart will be the 2000-2001 assistant captains.
Gionta, a Hobey Baker finalist and one of the team's assistant captains this season, scored 56 points - 33 goals and 23 assists - as the Eagles advanced to the national championship game for the second time in three years.
Allen, a defenseman, finished with 27 points - four goals and 23 assists, while Lephart was fifth on the club in scoring with 33 points - 14 goals and 19 assists.
