CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- Tight end Robert Ellis (6-4, senior, Baytown, Texas) has decided not to return to the Boston College football team for personal reasons, Coach Tom O'Brien has announced.
"We are surprised that Robert Ellis has decided not to return to our football team, but we wish him the best of luck as he graduates and pursues other interests," O'Brien says. "We will continue spring practice and search for a new starting tight end."
Ellis played in all 12 games last season, starting two. He was expected to compete for the starting tight end position vacated by the graduated Bryan Arndt.
