Chestnut Hill, Mass. - Junior goaltender Scott Clemmensen and freshman forward Krys Kolanos gave Boston College a clean sweep of the HOCKEY EAST weekly awards for the week ending Feb. 13, with Clemmensen earning Player of the Week honors and Kolanos earning Rookie of the Week honors.
Clemmensen, who was the HOCKEY EAST Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending Jan. 30 after posting a shutout at Maine on Jan. 29, continued his hot streak last week. He blanked Northeastern, 6-0, in the opening round of the 48th annual Beanpot on Feb. 7 and shut out Providence, 8-0, on Feb. 11.
Kolanos scored three goals and added one assist, earning his first collegiate hat trick against Northeastern. He then added two goals and two assists in the win over Providence. Kolanos became the second Eagle to post two four-point games this season and the first to do so in consecutive games.
With the back-to-back shutouts last week, Clemmensen also set an Eagle record for career shutouts. He has nine shutouts in his BC career, including four this season.
The streak marks the second time in Clemmensen's career that he has posted three consecutive shutouts. He also blanked three straight opponents as a freshman in 1997-98, setting an NCAA regular-season record for consecutive scoreless minutes (254:23). Clemmensen has currently gone 185:28 without allowing a goal.
This season, Clemmensen is 10-4-0 in 15 games with a .913 save percentage. He currently ranks 10th nationally with a 2.15 goals against average. Kolanos is currently tied for fifth on the team in scoring and first among freshmen with 22 points - 10 goals and 12 assists - in 28 games.
The Eagles (19-8-1) will be back in action this weekend when they face New Hampshire in a home-and-home series.
