BOSTON (AP) - William Green ran for 225 yards and three TDs and Dedrick Dewalt added a dazzling 76-yard punt return for one of his two scores as Boston College beat Connecticut 55-3 on Saturday in the schools' first meeting since 1928.
The Eagles (3-2), who built a 41-3 halftime advantage, scored on their first five possessions, posting their biggest first-half point total since scoring 45 against Temple on Sept. 25, 1993.
Green made his first start in place of leading rusher Cedric Washington, who bruised his right knee in last week's 48-34 loss to No. 3 Virginia Tech.
Ryan Tracey completed 17 of 33 attempts for 175 yards for Connecticut (2-4), which is in its first year in Division I-A and will join BC in the Big East in football in 2005.
After Mike Sutphin kicked a 26-yard field goal on Boston College's first possession, the Eagles followed with a five-play, 78-yard drive, capped by Tim Hasselbeck's 36-yard scoring pass to Dewalt.
Hasselbeck, playing just over a half, finished 10-for-15 for 209 yards with two touchdown passes.
After Sutphin's second field goal gave BC a 13-0 lead with just under five minutes left in the first quarter, Dewalt took a punt at the BC 24, cut right and broke free down the sideline for a touchdown.
Green took over on the next drive, carrying three times for 56 yards and catching a pass. His 7-yard scoring run made it 27-3 early in the second quarter.
Green's 34-yard TD run made it 34-3 and Hasselbeck's 5-yard scoring toss to Jamal Burke increased the lead to 41-3.
Green's third score, a 29-yarder early in the third quarter, made it 48-3. Backup quarterback Brian St. Pierre had a 1-yard scoring run.
BC is 7-0-2 overall against the Huskies.
