Final Score: Boston College 55, Connecticut 3
(October 7, 2000)
With the win, Boston College now holds a 7-0-2 advantage in the series.
Boston College's 41 first-half points are the most the Eagles have put on the board since they posted 45 in a 66-14 win over Temple on September 25, 1993.
Connecticut's three points was the lowest scoring output for the Huskies since a 28-3 loss at Maine on October 26, 1985.
BC's offense gained 361 yards rushing on 51 attempts. The last time the Eagles had a 300-yard rushing effort was in last season's 30-29 win over Baylor, when Boston College ran for 350 yards against the Bears.
BC's William Green rushed for 225 yards and Derrick Knight collected 104 yards for the Eagles. It's the first time Boston College had two players rush for over 100 yards in the same game since October 18, 1998. In that game Omari Walker had 185 yards rushing and Mike Cloud ran for 157 in a 35-17 loss at Miami.
William Green ran for a career-high 225 yards on 19 carries and scored three touchdowns. It was his second-consecutive 100-yard rushing game. Green scored on runs of seven, 34 and 29 yards. His previous career-best rushing effort was in last week's 117-yards vs. Virginia Tech. Green did not have a 100-yard rushing game at BC before last week's performance vs. the Hokies.
Green's 225 yards rushing was the most by a BC running back since Darnell Campbell had 227 yards on 29 carries in a 38-12 win over Pittsburgh on November 2, 1991.
Green posted his third-consecutive multiple touchdown game. In addition to his three-touchdown performance vs. UConn, the sophomore had TD runs of one and three yards vs. Navy two weeks ago, and one and twelve yards last Saturday vs. Virginia Tech.
Dedrick Dewalt returned a first-quarter punt 76 yards for a touchdown. It was the first punt-return touchdown for the Eagles since Kenyatta Watson returned a punt 68 yards for a touchdown in a November 24, 1995 41-38 win over Rutgers.
BC's Jamal Burke's had three receptions and a career-high 107 yards receiving vs. the Huskies. He also caught a 5-yard second quarter touchdown. Burke's previous receiving high was a 56-yard effort in a 31-29 win over Notre Dame on November 20, 1999. The sophomore had two touchdown catches in that game.
Connecticut's Stephen O'Connor had a career-high in both receptions and yards. The junior wide receiver caught 9 passes for 129 yards on the day.
BC's D. J. Sutton's first-quarter interception was his first of this season and the second of his career.
