Final Score: Boston College 42, Rutgers 13
(October 28, 2000)
With the win Boston College leads the all-time series 15-7-1. BC has won eight of the last nine meetings between the two schools. BC now has an 8-2-1 record against the Scarlet Knights at Alumni Stadium.
Boston College's Cedric Washington carried the ball on all seven of the Eagles' plays (39 yards) on their first drive of the game. He scored a two-yard touchdown to put BC up 7-0, 3:51 into the first quarter.
William Green repeated the feat on the first BC drive of the second quarter, carrying the ball on each of the Eagle's three plays for 55 yards and the third BC touchdown to put the Eagles up 21-3.
Green's 223 yards on 22 carries was the fourth time in the past five games that the sophomore rushed for more than 100 yards in a game, and the second time he eclipsed the 200-yard mark.
Green's two rushing scores marked the fourth time this season that he scored two or more touchdowns in a game. He has scored at least one rushing touchdown in all but one of BC's games this season (last weekend at Pittsburgh).
Rutger's place kicker Stephen Barone's 35-yard first-quarter field goal was his longest of the season. The kick made the score 7-3 Boston College.
Kevin McMyler's 57-yard first-quarter punt for the Eagles was his longest of the season.
Washington had two receiving touchdowns in the game. It was the first multi-touchdown reception game of his career. The senior scored on catches of 42 yards in the second quarter and 15 yards in the third quarter.
BC quarterback Tim Hasselbeck's three touchdown pass performance was the second game this season that the senior threw three scoring passes, and the third game in his career. Hasselbeck also had three TD passes in a 31-29 win at Notre Dame (Nov. 20, 1999) and earlier this season (Sept. 9, 2000) at Army in a 55-17 victory.
The Eagles' 42 points marks the fourth time this season (in eight games) that the team has scored 40 or more points in a game.
BC redshirt freshman Josh Ott had his first career interception with 7:14 to go in the game.
