Women's Cross Country Finishes 11th at Roy Griak Invitational

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The Boston College women's cross country team ran to a 11th-place finish at the Roy Griak Invitational held September 25 and hosted by the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. Freshman Cate Guiney (Red Bank, N.J.) led the Eagles with a 16th-place showing. The race was won by Sheela Agrawal of Duke University in a time of 17:31.
Guiney was the second freshman to cross the line, running the 5K course in a time of 18:12. Senior Shannon Smith (Fairport, N.Y.) was the next Eagle scorer, coming in 39th with a time of 18:31. Lisa McIsaac, a junior from Edmonton, Alberta, came in 54th and was Boston College's third scorer. Rounding out the Eagle competitors were: freshman Maggie Guiney (Red Bank, N.J.) - 89th (19:09), sophomore Nicole Portley (San Mateo, Calif.) - 95th (19:12), freshman Meghan Andrade (San Ramon, Calif.) - 150th (20:01), freshman Mary Tomer (Worthington, Ohio) - 154th (20:03), junior Kerry Andrews (Red Bank, N.J.) - 171st (20:31) and senior Kyla Barbour (Roswell, Ga.) - 179th (20:41).
The women's cross country team will compete next in the Iona College Invitational hosted by Iona in New Rochelle, N.Y. on October 2 at 10:30 a.m.
