Women's Cross Country Qualifies for National Championships

The Boston College womens cross country team finished third at the NCAA District 1 Qualifier and automatically qualified for the NCAA Cross Country Championships. Their third place team finish was enough to advance the team to Lawrence, Kansas on November 23 for Nationals. It is the fifth straight year that the team will be participating.
Three members of the wos team finished in the top 15 competitors. Senior Angie Graham (Pickering, Ontario) finished third to lead the Eagles. Freshmen Katie Ryan (Elmira, NY) placed ninth followed by junior Shannon Smiths (Fairport, NY) 11th place finish.
The mens team finished their season with a 12th place finish. Senior tri-captain Brian Shafer (Litchfield, CT) finished 34th in his last collegiate cross country race. Senior Chris Merrill (Windsor, CT), another tri-captain, placed 69th in his last race. Junior Marshal Armitage (Burlington, Ontario) followed Merrill in 75th place.
The womens team will spend the following two weeks preparing for the NCAA Championships.
