Softball falls in BIG EAST Tournament

CHESTNUT HILL, MASS.-The Eagles run at their third straight BIG EAST Championship came to halt Sunday afternoon, when Seton Hall defeated BC 4-3 to advance to the championship game versus Notre Dame.
Junior Mary Dietz(San Manuel, AZ). went the distance for third straight game, giving up three runs on four hits striking out eight.
BC out-hit Seton Hall 10 to three. Sophomore Summer Jarratt(Manhattan beach, CA) led the Eagles going three for four. Junior Chris Vicari(totowa, NJ) went two for four with two runs batted in.
Jarratt got things going for the Eagles with a lead-off single in the first, but could not get passed second as Vicari popped up to end the inning.
The Pirates scored first getting three across in the bottom of the third. SHU scored two unearned run on an error by Dietz. Dietz made a charge at a bunt by the Pirates and overthrew the catcher to allow to runs to score.
In the top of the fourth BC got on the board when Vicari hit her second home run of the tournament. She drove in senior Jen Murray(Attleboro, MA), who led off the inning with a base-hit.
