Softball Drops Two to Notre Dame

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass.---The Eagles fell 7-0 and 8-1 to the Irish on Saturday afternoon in action at Ivy Field on the campus of Notre Dame.
In game one junior Mary Dietz(San Manuel, AZ) led the game off with a base hit, but the Eagles would only manage one more hit off of Irish pitching. Senior Jen Murray(Attleboro, MA) led off the fifth with her sixteenth hit of the season but that would be all the offense the Eagles could manufacture.
Dietz had her 37 scoreless-inning streak snapped in the bottom of the first when the Irish sent eight batters to the plate, scoring three runs.

In game two, the Irish scored five runs in the bottom of the fifth on five hits to put the game out of reach at 7-1.
Junior Chris Vicari(Totowa, NJ) scored the Eagles only run in the bottom of the second when she scored on an error.
Dietz went 2-3 at the plate, upping her average to.385 in BIG EAST play.

The Eagles will take on BIG EAST opponent Providence on Tuesday afternoon at Shea Field. Game time is 3:00 p.m.
