CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Kostas Maglos, who was scheduled to enter his senior year at Boston College this fall, has signed a professional contract to play basketball in Greece. The 6-foot-10-inch signed a three-year deal with Panathinaikos, one of the nation's premier club teams.
Maglos averaged 13.3 points and 6.7 rebounds per game in 31 games for the Eagles last winter. He led the BIG EAST in field goal percentage, shooting 59.1 percent (176-for-298). He recorded eight point-rebound double doubles, and scored in double figures 24 times.
"I'm extremely disappointed that he (Maglos) decided not to return, but I wish him well," BC head coach Al Skinner said. "We felt he obviously was going to take on new responsibilities and continue to improve. He had a chance to get better and a chance to be a first-round pick."
