Injuries Take Toll on Football Lineup

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College head football coach Tom OBrien announced on Sunday that five members of his squad had been injured during the first week of drills and would miss significant playing time.
Senior fullback Greg Bartlett (6-0, 214, Hartford, CT) suffered a torn ACL and MCL of the left knee and will undergo further evaluation.
Freshman offensive lineman Matthew Desmarais (6-4, 340, Lowell, MA) has been diagnosed with a herniated disk and is expected to miss the entire season.
Redshirt freshman offensive lineman Matt Knapp (6-5, 308, Stony Brook, NY) has suffered a fractured left foot and will miss a minimum of six weeks.
Sophomore offensive lineman Paul LaQuerre (6-3, 305, West Barnstable, MA) suffered a fractured left fibula and will miss four to six weeks.
Freshman defensive back Marco Williams (6-1, 200, Tampa, FL) has an osteochondral defect in the right knee and will miss approximately four weeks.
