Baseball's McGowan earns Collegiate Baseball Player of the Week

Boston College senior Sean McGowan (Burlington, Mass.) was one of six players to earn Collegiate Baseballs National Player of the Week honors for the week of April 12-19.
McGowan hit .500 (12-for-24) during the week. He belted five home runs, had 14 RBIs and scored 10 runs in the six-game stretch.
Through games of April 18, the first baseman led the nation in home runs per game (.66) and RBIs per game (1.90). After 29 games, McGowan had belted 19 home runs and 55 RBIs. His batting average of .448 (52-for-116) ranked 11th among all Division I hitters.
Since the release of the NCAA statistics, McGowan has raised his average to .452 (56-for-124) after going 4-for-8 in a doubleheader sweep against Holy Cross on April 20.
In addition to McGowans hot bat, the entire lineup has been producing. After 29 games, Boston College led the nation with a .364 average. After the two wins against Holy Cross, BC raised its team average to .369.
Boston College (16-15, 4-9 BIG EAST) will return to action on Wednesday, April 21 when it hosts Providence. Game time is 3 p.m. on BCs Shea Field.
