CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Brianne Stepherson scored a career-high 31 points to lead the Boston College women's basketball team to an 80-66 victory over LaSalle University at Conte Forum. Three Eagles scored in double figures in the win as Boston College improved to 9-3 overall.
Boston College scored the first six points of the game, but LaSalle rallied and Melissa Hindenlang's jumper at the 14:26 mark gave the Explorers a 11-10 lead. LaSalle led throughout the half and shot 62.5 percent from the field. A three-point field goal by Jen Zenszer with 5:58 left in the first half gave LaSalle its largest lead of 25-18. Boston College rallied in the closing minutes to cut the lead to 32-30, but Beth Hudak scored to give LaSalle a 34-30 advantage at halftime.
Stepherson scored 24 points in the second half as Boston College outscored LaSalle, 50-32. The Eagles opened with a 7-1 run and tied the game at 37-37 with 17:26 remaining in the game. Stepherson scored eight points in a 10-0 run for the Eagles, including two consecutive three-pointers, that gave Boston College a 51-41 lead. The Eagles extended their lead with a 21-7 run that gave Boston College a 21-point lead with 2:48 left in the contest.
Sophomore center Jamie Cournoyer finished with 13 points and seven rebounds and senior guard Cal Bouchard netted 10 points for Boston College. LaSalle was led by Shannon McDade's 17 points and seven rebounds. Suzanne Keilty scored 10 points for the Explorers.
The Explorers dropped to 5-5 overall with the loss and will host Lafayette in the first round of the LaSalle Invitational Tournament on December 29-30. Boston College will travel to the University of Florida Tournament and will play the University of Maine in the opening game on December 28.
