CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. ? Two newcomers ? junior guard Xavier Singletary and freshman guard Troy Bell -- combined for 46 points to lead Boston College to a 109-93 exhibition victory over the BABC All-Stars before a crowd of 1,211 in Conte Forum.
Singletary, who made his BC debut after sitting out the 1998-99 season (transfer from Howard), scored a team-high 24 points, while Bell netted 22 points. Both players made four three-point field goals.
Junior guard Kenny Harley added 20 points for the host Eagles, while sophomore swingman Kenny Walls contributed 13 points and a team-high seven rebounds.
BABC was led by former Providence College star Trent Forbes, who finished with a game-high 25 points.
Boston College led by as many as 11 points (39-28) in the first half, before settling for a 45-41 halftime advantage. The Eagles began the second half with a 16-4 run to take a commanding 61-45 lead with 17:08 remaining.
BABC chipped away at the Eagles? lead and closed to within four points ? 80-76 ? with 6:12 to play. Boston College then used a 13-5 run to raise its advantage to 93-81.
Boston College returns to action on Monday, November 15 against Upstate New York AAU. The exhibition game begins at 7:30 p.m.
BC Notes: The Eagles shot 55.1 percent from the field, including 61.0 percent in the second half. BC shot 12-for-30 (.400) from three-point range ? BC enjoyed a 54-30 rebounding advantage ? Singletary was 10-for-14 from the field, including 4-for-7 from three-point territory ? Bell was 6-for-10 from the floor (4-for-6 three-pointers) and 6-for-6 from the foul line ? While Walls led the team with seven rebounds, three of his teammates ? senior Michael Cotton, junior Jonathan Beerbohm and Harley ? each grabbed six rebounds.
