Farkas Hat Trick Propels Hockey Past UMass-Amherst

Senior Jeff Farkas? hat trick propelled top-ranked Boston College to a 4-1 victory over UMass-Amherst in HOCKEY EAST action at the Mullins Center.
The win was Boston College?s 13th in a row against the Minutemen and marked head coach Jerry York?s 100th triumph as the Eagles' head coach. York?s BC record currently stands at 100-79-18.
Farkas scored his first goal at the 9:49 mark of the first period on assists from Marty Hughes and Brooks Orpik.
Boston College waited until the second period to explode offensively as junior Brian Gionta lit the lamp for his first goal of the season 1:21 into the period. Just more than five minutes later, Farkas scored his second goal to give BC a 3-0 lead. Just 43 seconds later, Farkas closed the scoring with a power-play goal. It was the third hat trick of his career. Bobby Allen and Mike Mottau assisted on Farkas' final goal.
Boston College junior netminder Scott Clemmensen stood tall en route to his first conference win of the season, recording 32 saves in the process.
The Eagles, 3-0-0 overall, 2-0-0 HOCKEY EAST, will take to the road for a two game series against Minnesota at Mariucci Arena on Oct. 29-30. Game time both nights is set for 8 p.m Eastern Time.
