Alison Quandt Westgate has been a part of the Boston College women’s hockey program for the last 15 years and has seen the program rise to the national power it is today. She primarily works with the goaltending corps, and on game days, she is the team’s off-ice coach.

After wrapping up her four-year career on the ice after the 2005-06 season, Quandt joined the coaching staff as the goaltending coach ahead of the 2006-07 season. In her 11 seasons as the goaltenders’ mentor, she has helped develop some of the top goalies in not only the collegiate game, but also for the U.S. National Team pipeline.

Quandt has been the team’s goaltending coach for each of the school’s eight teams that have advanced to the NCAA Frozen Four (2007, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2016, 2017), and has been a member of the coaching staff for the team’s four Hockey East regular-season titles (2013-14, 2014-15, 2015-16, 2016-17), three Hockey East tournament titles (2011, 201, 2017) and five Beanpot titles (2009, 2011, 2014, 2016, 2017).

Many members of Quandt’s goaltending corps have gained conference, national and international recognition. Since 2006-07, Boston College has claimed six goaltender spots on the Hockey East All-Star team and three conference goalkeeping champions as the Eagles’ stable of goaltenders included Molly Schaus ‘11 (2010, 2014 U.S. Olympian), Kierra Kingston ‘12, Corinne Boyles ’14, Megan Miller and most recently, Katie Burt, who has been among the NCAA’s top three goaltenders in each of her first three seasons and has been a member of the U.S. National Team player pool the last three years.

The Eagles are consistently among the nation’s top 10 defensive corps, five times ranking in the top five:

2008-09 allowing 1.75 goals per game (fifth in the nation)
2010-11 allowing 1.73 goals per game (fifth in the nation)
2014-15 when they allowed 1.21 goals per game (fourth in the nation)
2015-16 when they allowed 1.24 goals per game (third in the nation)
2016-17 when they allowed 1.50 goals per game (third in the nation)

Quandt joined the Eagles’ coaching staff after a stand-out career at The Heights. She graduated with the then-BC career records for wins (28) and goals against average (2.83) and was tied for the most career shutouts (6). As a senior, she set the then-school record for lowest single-season goals against average (2.17). As a student-athlete, she received USCHO Defensive Player of the Week once, Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week seven times, Hockey East Player of the Week three times and Hockey East Goalie of the Month in December 2005. As a freshman, Quandt won a Rookie of the Week honor once and Rookie of the Month for December 2002.

She received the Joe Bertagna Goaltender Award as the 2006 Beanpot Tournament's most outstanding goaltender. Quandt was named to the Hockey East All-Academic team three times and received the Athletic Director's Award for Academic Achievement four times. In 2015, Quandt was inducted into the Beanpot Hall of Fame.

Before BC, the Wayland, Mass., product played for Milton Academy where she was a finalist for the John Carlton Award given by the Boston Bruins to the top high school player in Massachusetts. Quandt twice participated in the USA Hockey Olympic Development camp (1999, 2001).

Outside of BC, Quandt has been active with USA Hockey as a goaltenders coach. She was the goalie coach for the Under-18 team that won the silver medal at the 2014 IIHF World Championships, and was a coach at the Warren Strelow National Goaltending Camp from 2007 to 2014.

Quandt graduated from BC's Morrissey College of Arts and Sciences in 2006 with a degree in economics and general education, and later earned her MBA with a leadership concentration from Boston College in 2011.

She lives in the MetroWest area of Boston with her husband, Ronnie.
