Alex Norden was officially hired as The James R. Maher Head Ski Coach in August of 2022 to lead the Boston College skiing program.

Norden came to the Heights after two years as the head women's alpine ski coach at Gould Academy in Bethel, Maine and four seasons as the head alpine ski coach at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island.

Norden was a two-time USCSA MacConnell Division Coach of the Year and coached five USCSA All-Americans during her time at Brown from 2016-20. She also served as the Board Chair and Treasurer of the MacConnell Division, scheduling all division races and maintaining the annual budget.

Prior to Brown, Norden was the head alpine ski coach at New England College, where she reinstated the program to varsity status in 2016. She also spent three years as the graduate assistant and strength and conditioning coach for the alpine ski team at St. Lawrence University, where she earned her master's degree in education leadership.

Norden was a four-year member of the University of New Hampshire alpine ski team, serving as captain in 2009 and earning NCAA All-Academic honors. She also competed with the UNH track & field team and graduated in 2010 with a bachelor's degree in psychology and a minor in sports studies.

After graduation, she served two years as the U19 women's ski coach at Killington Mountain School in Vermont.
