Sam Adelman joined the Boston College men’s soccer staff prior to the 2024 season.
Adelman brings a wealth of college, club and professional experience to The Heights. A graduate of Willamette University in Oregon, Adelman served as an assistant coach of the Bearcats from 2018 until 2021, working with both the men’s and women’s teams. In 2021, he was promoted to head men’s coach at his alma mater. He helped the Bearcats make history in 2022, when they were ranked as high as seventh in NCAA Division III and made it farther in the NCAA Tournament than ever before, reaching the second round with a loss to eventual national champion University of Chicago. His players garnered top national, regional and conference honors, with Pierce Gallaway being named a First-Team All-American. For his efforts, he was named Northwest Conference Coach of the Year in 2022.
In addition to his collegiate experience, Adelman serves as the head coach of the U23 teams and assistant coach of the USL 2 team for the Boston Bolts.
In 2018, he was a performance management intern with the Portland Thorns of the NWSL, eventually serving as the coach of the reserve players for the Thorns. He was nominated for the Oregon Youth Soccer Association (OYSA) Competitive Coach of the Year Award for 2016-17. He has coached in several positions with Capital FC and Eugene Metros.
Adelman holds a USSF "C" coaching license and is pursuing his "B" license.
An outside defender at Willamette, Adelman graduated in 2016 with a bachelor's degree in Exercise Science.
