Darren Murray, who has spent six total seasons on Ed Kelly’s staff at Boston College, is currently in his third season on Ed Kelly’s staff.
Murray currently manages the Eagles’ training sessions and works with the team’s outfield players. Additionally, he oversees all aspects of the team’s soccer operations and has a large role in recruiting.
Murray previously had a pair of two-year stints at The Heights with Kelly, spending 2006-07 and 2011-12 in Chestnut Hill. The Eagles have reached three NCAA Tournaments with Murray on staff. Additionally, he mentored goalkeepers Chris Brown (second team) and Justin Luthy (rookie team) to All-ACC honors.
Before his current stint at BC, Murray worked at Harvard, focusing on its goalkeepers. He guided Evan Mendez to All-Ivy League Second Team honors in 2015 after he posted a 0.74 goals against average in league play. In his first season in Cambridge in 2014, Murray coached Mendez to first-team honors as a sophomore as Harvard finished second in the league.
Murray spent four seasons as the head coach at Endicott prior to returning to Boston College in 2011. He has also held coaching positions for the New England Aztecs (2006-present), Newbury (2005-07) and South Shore United Blazers (2002-05). He has also spent time with the New England Revolution (2002-03) and Mercyhurst (1999-2002).
Murray graduated from Mercyhurst in 1998 and led the Lakers to a pair of Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference titles, earning all-conference and all-region honors in the process.
