Joseph Carty enters his first season with the Boston College men’s basketball program. He will serve as one of the team’s graduate managers during the 2019-20 season.
Carty, a native of Natick, Mass., comes to the Heights after spending the previous season as an assistant coach at Western New England College.
A 2018 graduate of Bridgewater State with a bachelor's degree in Business Management, with a double minor in Finance and Accounting, Carty brings experience both on the court as a player and in individual skill development.
In his three seasons with the Bears, Carty averaged 13.1 points and 10.4 rebounds in his 65-game career. As a senior during the 2017-18 campaign, Carty served as team captain and led BSU to the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) title and a trip to the NCAA Tournament. That season, Carty ranked among the top post players in the country, ranking fifth in rebounding (12.7 rpg), while tallying 17 double-doubles - good for seventh-best nationally.
As a prep, Carty graduated from the St. Andrew’s School in Barrington, Rhode Island, competing for legendary head coach Michael Hart in the New England Prep School Athletic Council (NEPSAC).
