• Ricky Brown is entering his sixth season coaching at the collegiate level and his fourth at Boston College.
• Beginning his third year as Boston College’s special teams coordinator and coaching the outside linebackers.
• Fourth year overall on the staff at BC after returning to his Alma Mater in 2016 as Director of Football Initiatives for the football program.
• In 2018, coached All-America return specialist Michael Walker, who led the nation in combined kick and punt return yards and earned All-ACC second-team accolades. Walker signed a NFL free agent contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars following the 2018 season.
• Mentored outside linebacker Isaiah McDuffie into the team's second-leader tackler in 2018. It was the first year McDuffie cracked the starting lineup and finished with three games of 10+ tackles in his six starts.
• In 2017, oversaw a special teams unit that ranked 11th in the nation (third in the ACC) in punt returns (13.11 avg.) and 22nd nationally (third in the ACC) in kickoff return yards (946 yards). BC finished 26th in the country (third in the ACC) in punt return defense (4.66 avg.)
• In 2017, return specialist Mike Walker led the nation in combined kickoff and punt return yards with 1,203 yards. Walker was sixth in the country (first in the ACC) in punt returns (13.11 avg.) and 12th in the country (second in the ACC) in total kickoff return yards (734 yards)
• Punter Mike Knoll, earned Midseason All-America Honors from ESPN.com and finished second nationally in punts (20) downed inside the 20. Kicker, and former soccer player, Maximilian Schulze-Geisthövel, was third in the ACC in touchbacks (35).
• In 2017, the BC defense ranked 12th in the country in interceptions (18) and third nationally in pass efficiency defense. BC finished the season ranked 32nd nationally in passing defense.
• From 2014 to 2015, Brown worked at University of Southern California as a Quality Control for Defense, working under defense coordinator Justin Wilcox. In 2014, USC’s defense ranked among the nation’s top 20 in turnover margin, red zone defense, and third-down conversion defense, earning a trip to the Holiday Bowl.
• In 2015, The Trojans won the Pac-12 South title and made a second consecutive appearance in the Holiday Bowl, leading the Pac-12 in third-down conversion defense and scoring five defensive touchdowns (third nationally).
• Outstanding linebacker for the Eagles from 2002-05 and won the 2005 Scanlan Award, the highest honor bestowed upon a BC football player as it recognizes accomplishments on the field, in the classroom and in the community.
• In four seasons at BC, Brown recorded 184 tackles, 118 were solo and had 4.5 quarterback sacks. In his junior year, Brown had 81 tackles, and had a career-high 10 solo tackles, 13 total and two tackles for a loss against Syracuse. He finished the 2004 season with five stops in the Continental Tire Bowl victory over North Carolina. He also took home Big East All-Freshman Team honors from The Sporting News in 2002, Big East All-Academic Team honors in 2004 and ACC All-Academic honors in 2005.
• Brown entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2006, when he was signed by the Oakland Raiders. He played six seasons with the Raiders from 2006-11. He finished his career with the Baltimore Ravens on injured reserve in 2012.
• He worked in Quality Control for Defense at the University of Southern California for two seasons (2014-15) before returning to the Heights.
