Phil Edwards joined Kelly Doton's coaching staff at Boston College in April 2015, bringing a decade of coaching experience to The Heights. Most recently, he spent the last three seasons as an assistant coach at Indiana University. Since 2012, Edwards has also worked with USA Field Hockey as a coach and consultant with both the women's and men's programs at all age levels.

A product of Heswall, England, Edwards joined Boston College's staff after helping guide the Hoosiers to a 28-27 overall record in the past three years. In 2014, Indiana began the season with program-best 7-0 record, earning a No. 17 ranking.

Prior to his tenure at IU, Edwards coached with the WC Eagles Field Hockey Club in Spring City, Pa.

Before coming to the United States, Edwards was a goalkeeping coach and Young People and Students intern for the England Hockey Board. He worked with junior development teams, and served as an assistant coach at Loughborough University from 2009 to 2011.

Edwards has coached all over the world, including stints in England, Wales and South Africa, where he started his coaching career in 2006 and later served as the head hockey coach at Western Province Cricket Club in 2009.

A 2005 graduate of Loughborough University, Edwards led his team to back-to-back British university championships in 2002 and 2003, as well as three national indoor championships (2003, 2004, 2005) and European Indoor Championships (2004, 2005, 2006). Edwards also competed with the England Under-18 squad in 2000.

Edwards holds a master's degree in sport science at Nottingham Trent University, with a specialty in performance analysis and skill acquisition. Edwards has earned England Hockey and USA Field Hockey Level 3 coaching qualifications. He is also a Level 5 accredited analyst from the International Society of Performance Analysis.
