Boston College baseball added Tyler Holt to its staff as an assistant coach beginning in the fall of 2021. Holt comes to BC from Florida State, where he spent three seasons as the Seminoles’ volunteer assistant coach.
Holt takes on responsibilities as the Eagles’ hitting coach and will work with the outfielders and baserunners. In his three seasons on staff at FSU, he helped the Seminoles to a pair of regionals, including an appearance at the 2019 College World Series in his former head coach Mike Martin’s final season at the helm of the program.
A three-year Major League Baseball veteran, Holt was a three-year outfielder at FSU. He hit .359 with 59 doubles, 21 home runs and 117 RBI in his collegiate career. Holt earned All-America recognition in 2009 and 2010 as well as freshman All-America honors in 2008 and an ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove in 2009.
Holt moved on to the professional ranks as a 10th-round pick of the Cleveland Indians in 2010. He made his MLB debut in 2014 and went on to play three seasons in the Majors; totaling 156 games played with a .228 batting average between his rookie season in Cleveland and two years with the Cincinnati Reds.
Upon returning to Tallahassee, Holt earned his undergraduate degree in sport management in 2019.
