Landon Lassiter joined the Boston College baseball staff as the volunteer assistant coach before the start of the 2017-18 season.
The High Point, N.C., native was a 2013 consensus first-team freshman All-American and part of the North Carolina team that won the Atlantic Coast Conference regular-season and tournament titles and advanced to the College World Series in Omaha, finishing in third place. The following year, Lassiter earned a spot on the ACC All-Tournament Team. He played two seasons in the prestigious Cape Cod Collegiate Baseball League on the Chatham Anglers before being drafted in the 21st round by the Chicago White Sox.
Lassiter was a career .324 hitter for the Tar Heels, playing shortstop, second and third base and roaming the outfield.
He played three seasons of minor league baseball, advancing to High A with the Winston-Salem Dash in his home state. In 203 career games, Lassiter hit .284 with 113 runs, 206 hits, 41 doubles, five triples, seven home runs, 72 RBIs, 91 walks and 23 stolen bases. He also recorded a .976 fielding percentage in that span, playing the outfield.
In 2017, Lassiter spent time with the double- and triple-A teams in spring training. He was a South Atlantic League mid-season all-star selection with the Kannapolis Intimidators in 2016 and in his first pro season in 2015, he earned all-star status from the organization after leading the Great Falls Voyagers with a .312 batting clip.
Lassiter earned his bachelor’s degree in interpersonal communications in 2017 from North Carolina. He currently resides in Brighton, Mass.
