Eagles practice inside a packed Fish Field House for first Saturday spring practice
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College Football program took the field for their first Saturday practice of the spring this morning inside Fish Field House, their third on-field practice so far this off-season.Â
After practice, Gregory P. Barber '69 and Family Head Coach Bill O'Brien met with the media, along with transfer running back Evan Dickens.Â
Competition filled the practice field on Saturday morning, with wide receivers and defensive backs doing one-on-one drills, along with the offensive and defensive lines squaring off on the line of scrimmage. Quarterback Mason McKenzie threw a pair of long touchdowns during the competitive one-on-one period, one to redshirt freshman Nedrick Boldin Jr., and one to wide out Jackson Wade. Arkansas transfer quarterback Grayson Wilson added a touchdown pass of his own to redshirt freshman receiver Duke Brennan.Â
"There were glimpses of who we can be today. These guys are awesome to coach, and I think they're competing really well. It was definitely a productive day," said Coach O'Brien.Â
The defense made their presence known during competitive team periods, with defensive back TJ Green and Isaiah Farris recording a pair of interceptions, and defensive linemen Bryce Lewis and Onye Nwosisi generating pressure up front.Â
It was Evan Dickens who would have the last laugh on Saturday, rushing for a 40-yard score in one of the final periods of the practice session. The Liberty transfer knows the kind of player he can be come Saturdays this fall.Â
"I'm an explosive all-around player. I think I can make explosive plays and help the team win. "That's the ultimate goal right there: going out, executing, and helping the team win."
After a couple of days off, the Eagles return to the practice field on Tuesday to kick off week two of spring practice. Practices are closed to the public.Â
