Eagles Close Out Weekend With a Win in Clearwater

Clearwater, Fla. - The Boston College Softball team capped off the weekend with 3-1 victory over Longwood. Abby Ptak hit the first home run of the season for the Eagles in the fifth inning.
Emily Van Cleef set the pace in the circle with five strikeouts, two assists and two putouts over her five innings.
The Eagles didn't wait to score. Sammy Horn and Emma Knight got on in the first with singles for Ptak to come up to the plate and hit them both home.
Ptak then opened up the fifth inning with a solo homer over the left field fence to extend the lead 3-0.
The Lancers responded with a run in the sixth but it was not enough to overcome the deficit. Halie Pappion came in to close out the game giving BC their second win of the season.
GAME NOTES
- Abby Ptak hit her third career home run and earned three RBI in the game
- Emily Van Cleef picked up her first win in her rookie season
- Sammy Horn and Abby Ptak each had team high two hits
UP NEXT
BC will be back to the Tampa area for the Fonseca Memorial Tournament at USF. The first pitch is set for 3 p.m. against Kansas.
