Men's Tennis Defeats Assumption 6-1

WALPOLE, Mass. – The Boston College men's tennis team (4-2) defeated Assumption (6-2), 6-1, Saturday night at Wimbledon 109.

The Eagles secured the doubles point to take early control of the match. The duo of Liam O'Leary and Matvey Greschner opened doubles play with a 6-3 win at No. 1. Matthew Carioscia and Lukas Rais capped off the point with a 6-2 decision at No. 3.

Boston College carried that momentum into singles, winning five of six matches. At the top spot, Mai Gao delivered a dominant 6-1, 6-2 win. Matthew Overvelde followed with a 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 3, and Luke Levanat added a 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 5. Lukas Rais was strong at No. 6, posting a 6-3, 6-1 decision. At No. 4, Aidan Pack rallied after dropping the first set to defeat his opponent, 5-7, 7-5, 10-4, in a third-set tiebreak. Assumption's lone point came at No. 2 singles, where Herman Aguirre defeated Matthew Carioscia, 6-4, 6-4.

With the win, the Eagles improve to 4-2 on the season heading into Atlantic Coast Conference play.
