Boldy and Hanifin win gold with Team USA
MILAN – Former Boston College men's hockey standouts Matt Boldy and Noah Hanifin captured gold medals with the United States at the 2026 Winter Olympic Games after a 2-1 overtime victory against Canada.
Boldy and Hanifin become the first Eagles to win gold in Olympic men's hockey, helping Team USA earn their third gold medal all-time in the Winter Olympics.
Boldy opened the scoring just six minutes into the gold medal game, and finished the tournament with four points on two goals and two assists across six games. Hanifin also skated in all six games for the United States, posting one goal and two assists.
Additionally, Bill Guerin, a 2017 inductee into the BC Varsity Club Hall of Fame and two-year player for the program before beginning his NHL career, served as the general manager for the first United States team to win gold since the 1980 Olympics.
