Women's Golf Crowned Yale Invitational Champions

NEW HAVEN, Conn. — The Boston College Women's Golf team has secured their second straight invitational championship after outlasting Harvard to take home the Yale Invitational. Juliette Demeaux and Joyce Zhang placed highest for the Eagles, tied for fourth, both finishing play even.
Demeaux recorded her best round of the invitational to start with a 3-under-par 69. She was bogey-free throughout the first 18 holes and finished with 10 birdies overall. Demeaux concluded the invitational shooting 2-under on Par-3 and 1-under on Par-5 holes. The junior shot par a total of 36 times.
Zhang had the best round two score of the entire field, shooting a 6-under-par 66. She finished the second round with seven birdies, four of which occured on the final nine holes. Zhang recorded the second best score on Par-3 holes (-3). The sophomore was also 1-under on Par-5 holes. Both Zhang and Demeaux shot a 2-over-par 74 in the third round.
Senior Frances Kim, placing seventh, shot a 1-under-par 71 in both rounds on the first day. She recorded nine total birdies and finished even on Par-3 and tied for the second-best on Par-5 holes at 5-under. Just like Demeaux, Kim also shot par 36 times.
Jun Xi Guo's best round came to end day one with a 2-over-par 74. The freshman shot even on Par-5 holes and placed tied for 12th place. Rebecca Gyllner placed tied for 23rd, shooting a 1-under-par 71 to open the invitational. She finished with six birdies and 1-under on Par-5 holes.
Ana Lucia Trevino also had her best round to start with a 1-over-par 73 in round one. Trevino totaled six birdies, shot par 28 times and placed 41st.
After concluding round two before the third on the final day, Riya Bapna shot a 1-over-par 73 to close out her second collegiate tournament as an individual. The freshman finished even on Par-5 holes, and placed tied for 15th. Grace Leber, the Eagles second individual, shot even in round two and was one of just three golfers to record an Eagle over the weekend. Leber finished 3-under on Par-5 holes, while her and Bapna both finished with seven birdies.
The Eagles shot the best on Par-3 holes and recorded the most pars as a team (214).
The Maroon & Gold will conclude the fall season at the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational hosted by the University of North Carolina. Competition will take place from Oct. 16-18 at the UNC Finley Golf Club in Chapel Hill, N.C.
