Eagles Dominate Day One of Yale Invitational

NEW HAVEN, Conn. — The Boston College Women's Golf team has wrapped up the first day of the Yale Invitational and holds the top spot overall (-8). Joyce Zhang, Frances Kim, and Juliette Demeaux are currently tied for third place at 2-under par.
Zhang had a dominant second round in which she shot a 6-under-par 66 to close out day one. She totaled seven birdies in the round and is shooting 3-under on Par-3 and 1-under on Par-5 holes.
Demeaux led the field, individually, after round one with a clean scorecard. She was bogey-free and recorded three birdies, shooting a 3-under-par 69. In round two, she added five more birdies and shot a 1-over-par 73. Demeaux is shooting even on Par-4 holes going into the third round.
Kim shot 1-under-par 71 in both rounds with seven total birdies. She is shooting 1-under on Par-3 and 3-under on Par-5 holes.
Finishing in fourth on day one for the Eagles and tied for 14th overall, Jun Xi Guo improved in round two, shooting a 2-over-par 74. Guo shot par a total of 14 times in round two and tied for the second most overall.
Rebecca Gyllner opened the tournament strong, recording three birdies and shooting a 1-under-par 71. She heads into round three shooting 1–under on Par-5 holes and is tied for 18th place. Ana Lucia Trevino, tied for 34th place, recorded four birdies within her first nine holes of the tournament. Round one was her best, shooting a 1-over-par 73, and is even on both Par-3 and Par-5 holes.
On the individual side, Grace Leber recorded an eagle on hole 16 in the second round, the only eagle thus far. She is shooting 3-under on Par-5 holes. Riya Bapna recorded four birdies in the first round and is 1-under on Par-5 holes. Leber and Bapna will wrap up the second round at 7:20 a.m. on Sunday, as their groups could not finish in time.
Round three will commence at 9:15 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 4, with a shotgun start.
