BC Flies Through UCA Invitational
CONWAY, Ark. – The Boston College volleyball team (4-0, 0-0 ACC) swept Central Arkansas (1-3, 0-0 ASUN) over three sets, closing out the UCA Invitational undefeated. The Eagles won by scores of 25-13, 29-27 and 25-23.
The Eagles are now 5-0 in an undefeated 15-0 set run since the beginning of the 2025 campaign. A combined effort of Audrey Ross, Isabelle Poehlein and Bella Ehrlich led the offensive efforts with 27 kills. Ross hit double digits earning 10 points and adding on eight digs. Sophomore Poehlein posted an impressive .692 hitting percentage. Sophomore Sequoia Layne also had an impressive match recording 10 points, seven kills and three total blocks including two solo. Junior Brooklyn Yelland held down the back row making 14 digs and six assists. Lucy Mott recorded 25 assists, guiding the Eagles in their offensive front. Senior Anna Herrington also posted seven kills and two block assists.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Set 1: The Eagles came out on fire as they dominated the first set. Sequoia Layne produced five kills and two blocks in the first set to propel BC ahead. A 5-0 BC run led the Eagles to 15, lengthening the lead. Kills by Layne, Herrington Ross and Poehlein sealed the deal for the first set. The Eagles took the first set 25-13.
Set 2: Audrey Ross opened the first set with a kill to get the Eagles up first. Ross and Aubrey Moore were all over the court assisting the offensive flow. The score evened 13 times, the second half of the set more. A combined offensive effort of kills from Danica Rach, Herrington, Ross, Cornelia Roach and Poehlein pushed the Eagles to victory. After just two sets, the Eagles had a combined 35 kills, 34 assists and 34 digs. The Eagles took the second set 29-27.
Set 3: The Sugar Bears got on the board first, the score evening at 4-4 before a big tip from Audrey Ross put the Eagles on top. The Sugar Bears came back hot again, fighting for the lead. The score was back and forth through the second half of the set, combined kills from Ehrlich, Herrington, Sam Hoppes and Audrey Ross clinched out the third set. A final tip from Ross led to a match point and the Eagles took the third set 25-23.
