Eagles Sweep Little Rock to Open UCA Invitational

CONWAY, Ark – The Boston College volleyball team (4-0, 0-0 ACC) defeated the Little Rock Trojans (2-4, 0-0 OVC) 3-0 Saturday night in Conway, Arkansas to open up the UCA Invitational. The Eagles won by scores of 25-18, 25-23 and 25-15.
Isabelle Poehlein led the offensive charge with 11 kills, Anna Herrington right behind with nine; Herrington posted a .583, Poehlein a .526. Freshman Bella Ehrlich recorded three total blocks including one solo and four block assists. Fifth year Cornelia Roach was right behind recording 2.5 total blocks and tallying six kills. Three Eagles recorded two aces; Ali Natt, Danica Rach and Cornelia Roach. Sophomores Lucy Mott and Aubrey Moore co-led the offensive force recording a combined 29 assists. Junior Brooklyn Yelland held down the backline recording 12 digs.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Set 1: The Eagles opened up scoring with a block by Isabelle Poehlein and Cornelia Roach. Anna Herrington and Isabelle Poehlein both posted three kills each, leading the offensive effort. With three kills in a row by Roach BC flew through the remainder of the set. The Eagles took the first set 25-18.
Set 2: After a back-and-forth set, the Eagles posted a 4-0 run to finally push them ahead of the Trojans. Maintaining the lead, kills by Anna Herrington and Sofija Marjanovic assisted the offense as the Eagles took the lead. Back-to-back kills by Poheliein sealed the deal as the Eagles took the second set 25-23.
Set 3: Isabelle Poehlein opened up scoring in the third with a kill, setting the tone early. Taking the lead, the Eagles were all over the court and all over the Trojans. Three Eagles posted kills back-to-back-to back as the Eagles went on a 5-0 streak. Another 5-0 streak later, the Eagles lengthened their lead as they took the third set 25-15.
