
Eagles Earn Multiple Top Ten Finishes Over Weekend

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -Â The Boston College Sailing team returned to the water this weekend, racing in four regattas across Friday and Saturday. The Eagles secured two top-15 finishes in the NEISA Open Singlehanded Championship Monotype Trophy, fourth-place finishes in the Barnett Trophy, seventh place in the Hatch Brown Trophy, and an eighth-place finish in the Regis Trophy.
Boston College began the weekend with the first day of the NEISA Open Singlehanded Championship Monotype Trophy, led by skippers Jake Homberger and Tor Svendsen. Both sailors concluded the opening day of racing in the top 10, as Homberger ranked third and Svendsen in eighth. Homberger remained in second place after the second and final day, while Svendsen placed 14th out of 31 boats.
Up in Maine, the Eagles competed in the Barnett Trophy, hosted by Bowdoin College. Skipper James O'Gwen and crew Brooke Bergendahl led the A Division Boat, where they finished first place. In the B Division race, skippered by Kennedy Laureigh and crewed by Paige Roby, the pair finished in eighth place. The combined scores put Boston College in fourth place out of 15 schools.
Boston College rounded out weekend action on the Charles with the Regis and Hatch Brown Trophy. Led by Caroline Sibilly as skipper and Lanie Ferranine as crew in the A Division boat, the two finished in fourth place. In B Division, skippered by Kate Joslin and crewed by Aiesha Shekhar, the boat claimed 14th place, as Boston College's combined point total put them in eighth place out of 18 teams.
The Hatch Brown Trophy had three BC boats, led by skippers Peter Busch (A), Tanner Krygsveld (B), and Cody Roe (C), and crews Madeline Torrey (A), Sydney Lombard (B), and Christian Yanoti (C). After 10 rotations, A Division finished seventh, B Division took fourth, and C Division concluded in tenth, resulting in a combined point total to finish seventh out of 18 teams.
Boston College is back next weekend with five regattas, including the first hosted event of the season, the Eagle Invite, on September 20.
