News and Notes from Day 6 of Training Camp
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- As the ACC Network Road Show looked on from the practice fields outside Fish Field House, the Eagles held their sixth Training Camp session of the summer.
With the heat rising in the early morning hours, so too did the intensity on the practice fields. In the team's first fully-padded practice, emphasis Thursday was on situations such as goal line, punching the ball in the end zone on offense and making a stand on defense.
The defense began the day the exact same way they started yesterday, this time a tipped pass was intercepted by defensive back Omar Thornton. Defensive lineman Kwan Williams cited his teammates as why he looks forward to showing up to work on a daily basis.Â
After practice, Williams and linebacker Bryce Steele met with the media.Â
"All of us are getting better. You have to bring it every day. It's been good competition. It's been fun practicing," said the senior defensive lineman.Â
The play of the day came from the offense, when freshman tight end Kaelan Chudzinski made a one-handed touchdown grab in the back corner of the end zone with a defender draped all over him. Veteran linebacker Bryce Steele understands the impact of playing against a talented offense everyday in practice.Â
"It's making the defense better as a whole, going up against great competition each and every day. We have a pretty good schedule this season, and we're going to see some good teams. We're lucky to have two guys like Grayson [James] and Dylan [Lonergan] that we can go against each and every day in practice, just making the defense better as a whole."
After an off day tomorrow, the Eagles return to the practice fields Friday to kick off three consecutive days of practice over the weekend. Practices are closed to the public.Â
