News and Notes from Day 17 of Training Camp
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- On a rainy Wednesday morning inside Fish Field House, the Eagles held their seventeenth Training Camp practice of the summer.Â
The offense began Wednesday's practice much like they started on Tuesday. Wide receiver Reed Harris made the play of the day, hauling in an over-the-shoulder touchdown grab from 40 yards out. Fellow wide receiver Lewis Bond likes what he's seen from the group.Â
"We all have different skill sets… We complement each other very well, and I'm excited to see what we can do this year," said the veteran pass catcher. Â
After practice, wide receiver Lewis Bond and linebacker Owen McGowan met with the media.Â
Football being a game of inches was a primary theme in Wednesday's practice. Both the offensive and defensive lines battled on the line of scrimmage, with every yard meaning more, play after play. Defensive back Syair Torrence registered an interception in the back corner of the end zone in one of the final team periods of the day, saving a touchdown. Linebacker Owen McGowan has a high opinion on the direction of the team, with Fordham coming to town in just 10 days.Â
"Guys have really bought in and the younger guys are starting to figure out the system," said McGowan. "Now, a year into it, you see things quicker, you diagnose quicker, and you know how to get lined up right away. We're far ahead from last year."Â
The Eagles will hit the practice fields tomorrow for their third consecutive day of practice in their final week of Training Camp. Practices are closed to the public.Â
