"It's a tremendous honor for me to work for this incredible program and to continue helping develop these wonderful student athletes on and off the court," said Alves. "As a Boston College graduate and lifetime Boston resident, I take tremendous pride in being able to give back to the community that has blessed me with so much during my time here. I am so grateful to Coach Mac and all of those individuals involved in entrusting me with this position, and I will execute my role everyday with the motto of "Men & Women For Others" in mind as I work to help the program excel to new heights. Go Eagles!"
Nick previously spent time working in the greater Boston area, serving as the athletics director for the Boston Center for Youth & Families and Boston Prep Charter School. Nick also brings coaching experience, having coached three different programs to winning records in his six years as a high school basketball coach.  He has also spent years training a number of prominent inner-city youth basketball players around the city of Boston, preparing them for their next level of competition.
Born & raised in Boston, Nick played varsity basketball for three years at Milton Academy in Milton, MA under head coach Lamar Reddicks. He attended Boston College where he graduated in 2015 with a double major in sociology and communication. Â
In 2017, he founded "Better Opportunity Basketball", a non-profit designed to assist inner-city youth basketball players in the college decision process by providing more opportunities for exposure through showcases and workouts, mentoring through basketball and leadership training, and educational support through tutoring and SAT prep.
Nick spent summers teaching basketball around the world, running camps in various countries, including Belgium, Austria, France, the Netherlands, and Cabo Verde. He has worked with numerous overseas players who are thriving in their respective leagues.
