Eagles Blast Three Homers in 8-3 Win over River Hawks

BC will visit UMass Lowell for series finale on Sunday afternoon
LOWELL, Mass. — Boston College Baseball (24-26, 10-17 ACC) won 8-3 over UMass Lowell (17-31, 8-13 America East) at LeLacheur Park on Saturday night.
A.J. Colarusso started for the Eagles and opened the game with two scoreless frames, allowing just one hit while striking out two. The hosts struck first in the third inning, going up 3-0 after a pair of singles and a triple.
Josiah Ragsdale and Patrick Roche hit back-to-back singles to lead off the fourth inning, and Jack Toomey walked to load the bases for Kyle Wolff. The team's home-run leader added to his tally, driving a go-ahead grand slam deep to left-center, his seventh of the season to give the Eagles a 4-3 lead. Beck Milner and Colin Larson followed with a pair of free passes, and Sam McNulty extended the lead to 5-3 on a one-run single back up the middle.
Leading by two, Colarusso came back out for the fourth and hung a zero, facing just four batters to preserve the 5-3 BC lead after four full. Roche reached on a leadoff walk to open the fifth, and Jack Toomey made it a 7-3 game on a towering home run to right field, his fifth of the season to put the Eagles up four through five full. JD Ogden relieved Colarusso after four innings of work and worked three scoreless frames, striking out three with just one hit and one walk issued. Vince Cimini led off the eighth inning with some insurance, lifting his fourth home run of the season to left field, extending the Eagles' lead to 8-3.
Joey Ryan took over for Ogden with a five-run lead in the ninth and faced the minimum, striking out the final two batters of the game to finish off the Eagles' 8-3 win on Saturday night. JD Ogden earned the win (4-2) after four shutout innings of relief.
The Eagles and River Hawks will meet again in Lowell on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m.
