
Rowing 2v4+ Finishes First, 1v8+, 3v8+ Finish Second at Saint Joseph's Invitational

LEONIA, N.J. – The Boston College rowing team posted a strong performance as the Second Varsity 4+ recorded a first place finish, the First Varsity 8+ and Third Varsity 8+ finished second at the Saint Joseph's Invitational Saturday.
It was slightly cloudy and cool with winds blowing 10-23 miles per hour at Overpeck Park in Leonia, New Jersey on Saturday.
The Eagles had a successful day in New Jersey as they recorded first place finishes across 1V8+, 2v8+, V4+, 2V4+ before heading to the finals where the Second Varsity 4+ earned a first place finish, both First Varsity 8+ and Third Varsity 8+ earned second place finishes, the First Varsity 4+ finished third and the Second Varsity 8+ finished fourth.
The Varsity 8+ got the Eagles started, coxed by Madelyn Stevens with rowers Lucy Barratt, Lauren Bauer, Rachele Papineau, Lauren Meath, Callaghan Nickerson, Leighton Smith, Leighton Davis and Grace Yi. Boston College finished the course in a time of 6:53.925, earning a first place finish. They finished nearly three seconds before Bucknell and 15 seconds before Marist.
The Second Varsity 8+, a team of coxswain Caroline Jennings, and rowers Lauren Schramm, Jill Reichenbach, Lauren Craven, Brooke Picazio, Sierra Ross, Jennie Sherwood, Erin Smith and Kirsten Thorn posted a winning first place time of 7:11.334. They finished one second ahead of Marist and three seconds ahead of Bucknell.
The First Varsity 4+, coxed by Lucy Fortner with rowers Quinn Baker, Neave Anderson, Elizabeth Cobb and Jo McTamney finished the course with a first place time of 7:54.692. They finished nearly two seconds ahead of UConn, and 20 seconds ahead of Marist.
The Eagles Third Varsity 8+, coxed by Chloe Reisinger with rowers Lucy Barnett, Josie Hohenrieder, Ella Davis, Charlotte Cochener, Reagan Rock, Molly Welch, Avery Lehmann and Eva Kelliher posted a second place time of 7:11.470, finishing just six seconds behind Bucknell, 14 ahead of UConn and over 35 seconds ahead of Marist.
The Second Varsity 4+, coxed by Kendra Schmidt with rowers Chloe Wilkinson, Claire Piacentini, Amelia Sanger and Olivia Hankey, finished first with a time of 8:08.980, nearly nine seconds ahead of UConn, and 20 seconds ahead of Marist.
After earning four first place finishes in Heat A, the Eagles headed to the A finals.
The First Varsity 8+ finished second place with a time of 7:07.621, just behind 10-time Atlantic-10 Champion, the University of Rhode Island. The Eagles finished ahead of A-10 Saint Joseph's and 7x Patriot League Champion, Bucknell.
The Second Varsity 8+ finished fourth with a time of 7:23.327, just three seconds behind George Washington.
The First Varsity 4+ earned a third place finish as they recorded a time of 8:08.028, finishing more than 13 seconds ahead of URI, and just four seconds behind UConn. UMass recorded a first place finish of 8:03.376, just five seconds ahead of the Eagles.
The Third Varsity 8+ recorded a second place finish with a time of 7:27.001, ahead of 16-time A-10 Champion UMass and UConn. Bucknell recorded a first place finish of 7:23.783, just four seconds ahead of the Eagles.
The Second Varsity 4+ recorded a first place finish ahead of UMass, URI A and UConn. The Eagles recorded a time of 8:09.162, finishing half of a second ahead of UMass.
