
Lacrosse Defeats Virginia to Advance to ACC Semis

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Boston College lacrosse carded a 17-7 victory over Virginia in the ACC Quarterfinals on Wednesday evening at American Legion Memorial Stadium.
The Eagles advance to the semifinals, where they will play  Stanford on Friday at 8 p.m. for a trip to the title game.
A second-quarter surge was the difference as the Eagles outscored the Cavaliers 8-2. Six different Eagles scored in the period, capped off by a Mia Mascone goal to give BC a 10-4 edge at the break.
Kylee Colbert continued the run in the third period with a goal before the Eagles tacked on three more to a 14-4 advantage. BC kept the Cavaliers at bay, cruising to a seventh straight ACC Tournament win.
BC outscored the Cavaliers 12-2 in the second and third quarters.
Shea Dolce followed up her 13-save performance against Syracuse with 14 saves and a .667 save percentage with one caused turnover and four GBs.
BC's defense forced 12 turnovers, led by Shea Baker's three. Morgan Smith totaled two CTs, while Mascone also had two caused turnovers.
Rachel Clark paced the offense with six goals, one assist and seven points while netting five ground balls. She was one of four Eagles with multiple goals, and Emma LoPinto totaled six points with three goals and three helpers.
Mascone registered a hat trick and Colbert turned in two scores with two ground balls and tied the team lead with three draw controls. Giulia Colarusso came off the bench to tie the team lead with three draw controls. n
Notes to Know
- The 14 saves by Dolce are the most in an ACC Tournament game in her career.
- Clark stands at 105 points for the season, which is now ninth all-time in a single season.
- With her four points, Mckenna Davis surpassed Belle Smith (2021-24) into fourth all-time in points with 297 and counting. She is three away from becoming one of four Eagles to reach the 300-point milestone.Â
