
Four Eagles Named CCM/AHCA Hockey All-Americans

Fowler and Leonard named to the first team; Perreault and Powell named to the second team
ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Four student-athletes from the Boston College men's hockey team were named All-Americans by the American Hockey Coaches Association on Friday evening. Sophomores Jacob Fowler and Ryan Leonard were named to the first team, while grad student Eamon Powell and sophomore Gabe Perreault earned spots on the second team.

Boston College led all programs with four honorees.

The Hockey East Goaltender of the Year, Hockey East First Team All-Star and Mike Richter Award finalist, Fowler finished with a 1.63 goals against average, a .940 save percentage, and seven shutouts, all of which are in the top three among goaltenders in the country. His 1.63 goals against average this season is the lowest ever by a BC goaltender that played a minimum of 15 games. Finishing with a 25-7-2 record in 35 games played, Fowler's seven shutouts are the third-most ever by a BC goaltender in a single season, and second in Division I this year.

Leonard, the Hockey East Player of the Year, Hockey East First Team All-Star and Hobey Hat Trick Finalist, leads the country in goals with 30 and game-winning goals with nine, while sitting sixth in points per game with 1.32. He also had 19 assists for a total of 49 points. The Massachusetts native had a nation-leading 17-game point streak snapped in the final game of the season. Over the 17-game span, Leonard had 29 points on 17 goals and 12 assists. He posted four three-point games which included hat-tricks in the wins at Boston University (Jan. 24) and at home against UMass Lowell (Jan. 31).

Powell earns his first All-America nod after winning the Hockey East Best Defensive Defenseman Award along with being named a Hockey East First Team All-Star. In league play, Powell suited up in 20 games, posting 15 points on two goals and 13 assists with a plus-16 rating. Overall, the grad student played in 32 games with 20 points on four goals and 16 assists. In his final game with the Eagles, Powell broke the program record for games played with 170.

Perreault earned second team honors for the second-straight season after finishing with 48 points on 16 goals and 32 assists in 37 games along with a team-high five power-play goals. He was selected as a Hockey East First Team All-Star after finishing fourth in the league in points (31) and second in assists (22). Prior to the final game of the season, Perreault posted 24 points over a 17-game span on nine goals and 15 assists.
