March 19, 2025 | Baseball
Eagles will take two-game win streak into ACC home opener on Friday
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. — Boston College Baseball (9-9, 2-4 ACC) defeated Northeastern (12-7, 0-0 CAA) on Wednesday afternoon, shutting out the Huskies 6-0 behind five dominant innings from Brady Miller.
The Eagles opened the scoring in the bottom of the first, with Josiah Ragsdale roping a leadoff triple to left-center, his team-leading third triple of the season. Kyle Wolff picked him up, lining an RBI single back up the middle to give BC a 1-0 lead. Brady Miller started on the mound for Boston College and came out firing. Miller worked a 1-2-3 opening frame with two strikeouts, and faced the minimum through three innings, striking out five with no walks and only one hit allowed, keeping it a 1-0 game after three full.
Boston College padded their lead in the fourth, bringing three runs across, all with two outs. Adam Magpoc singled and stole his way to third, adding two more stolen bases to his team-lead. Gunnar Johnson got his bat around on an RBI single to left field, and Owen DeShazo followed suit with an RBI knock back up the middle. With the bases loaded, Patrick Roche picked up an RBI on a hit-by-pitch, putting BC up 4-0 after four full.
Miller continued to deal through the fourth and fifth, exiting after 5.0 shutout innings with six strikeouts, three hits, and just one walk issued. The Eagles extended their lead in the bottom of the fifth, with Sam McNulty driving an RBI single past the second baseman, and Gunnar Johnson following with a sacrifice bunt to push the advantage to 6-0. JD Ogden relieved Miller on the mound and picked up where he left off, turning in two scoreless innings of work, striking out two while allowing just two hits. With runners on first and second and nobody out, the middle-infield duo of Vince Cimini and Sam McNulty spun their first of two 4-6-3 double plays of the day, helping the Eagles hang a quick zero on defense.
Alex Bryant closed the game on the mound for the Eagles, facing the minimum as Boston College shut out their cross-town rival. Winners of two straight, the Eagles will prepare for their ACC home opener this Friday afternoon against North Carolina.
