Track & Field Battles at Showdown at the Heights

Eagles earn seven new top-10 performances in school history over the weekend.
BOSTON, Mass. – The Boston College Men's and Women's Track & Field teams hosted the Showdown at the Heights meet on Friday and Saturday at the TRACK at new balance.Â
The Showdown at the Height took place at the TRACK at new balance over the weekend of Feb. 7 and 8, and the Eagles were joined by some of the top runners in the region and country.Â
Boston College earned seven new entries to the school's top-10 record book, while two athletes earned personal-best times and stayed at their positions in the top-10.
Colin Kravitz and Max McQuide started the meet off strong for the Eagles on Friday, with both placing in the top-ten for the Men's 200m. Kravitz finished in first place with a personal-best time of 21.26, which improves on his No. 2 all-time ranking in school history. McQuide finished in eighth place with a time of 21.76, which moves him up to No. 3 all-time.
Anna Becker and Anna Sonsini both earned personal-best times in the Women's 200m, while also both placing top-five. Sonsini improved on her No. 2 all-time time, finishing in second place at 24.55. Becker earned a career-best time of 24.81, which moves her up to No. 4 all-time in school history.
Patrick Mulryan ran to a time of 4:01.15 in the Men's Mile, which put his name at No. 2 all-time in BC history. Abby Loveys also snuck into the school's top-10 in the Women's Mile, as she finished with a time of 4:41.38 which puts her at No. 9 in the record book.Â
The Men's 4x400m relay of Max McQuide, Colin Kravitz, Max Deane, and Eddie Kelly finished first overall with a time of 3:13.31. The relay team now sits at No. 2 all-time in school history. The Women's 4x400m relay team ended up earning second place while running to a time of 3:44.20. The relay group of Anna Becker, Anna Sonsini, Kyla Palmer, and Aliyah Canty moved into No. 6 all-time in school history after their performance on Saturday.Â
Boston College earned nine of the top-10 spots in the Men's 3000m, highlighted by Will Purnell finishing first overall with his time of 8:07.20. Purnell's time put him at No. 7 all-time in school history.Â
Colin Shaver took first place in the Men's Mile Open with a time of 4:08.86, while Ella Fadil earned second place as she crossed the finish line at 4:52.11.Â
Morgan Champi finished third overall with a mark of 15.55m in the Women's Weight Throw.
Sophie Albright and Lily Dumas were the Eagles highest finishers in the Women's High Jump, as both Eagles finished with a mark of 1.63m.Â
Up next: The Eagles will host the Eagle Elite at the TRACK at new balance on Friday, Feb. 14, while also competing at the David Hemery Valentine Invite at the BU Track & Tennis Center on Feb. 14-15.Â
