No. 6 Eagles Fall to No. 13 Quinnipiac in Season Opener
October 03, 2025 | Men's Hockey
Andre Gasseau had an assist on each goal
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The No. 6 Boston College men's hockey team fell to No. 13 Quinnipiac in the season opener by a score of 4-3 on Friday evening at Kelley Rink. Teddy Stiga, Ryan Conmy, and Drew Fortescue each found the back of the net for the Eagles, while Andre Gasseau posted three assists. Jan Korec made 26 saves in his first start of the season.
The Bobcats opened the scoring midway through the opening period when Jeremy Wilmer snuck a shot past Korec into the right side of the net.
Boston College grabbed its first goal of the night with just under 15 seconds remaining in the opening with a power play goal. Gustafsson had the puck at the blueline before finding Stiga along the boards on the left side. Stiga skated forward and ripped a shot into the corner of the net for his first goal of the season to tie it up.
The Bobcats scored twice early in the middle to push out to a two-goal lead, but the Eagles responded with their second power play goal of the night as Conmy tallied his first of the season. James Hagens found Conmy in the slot before he slotted home a shot to the bottom left corner.
After Quinnipiac scored later in the second period to push the lead back to two, the Eagles responded early in the third with a goal from Fortescue to bring the deficit back down to one. Fortescue received a pass from Gasseau at the point, and fired a shot through the Quinnipiac defense and past goaltender Dylan Silverstein to make it a 4-3 game.
The Eagles put the pressure on in the final few minutes in search of the equalizer, but the attempts were thwarted by the Quinnipiac defense.
