
Women's Basketball Falls Short at North Carolina

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Boston College fell to No. 19 North Carolina on Sunday afternoon in Carmichael Arena, 80-67.Â
The Eagles fall to 10-8 and 1-4 in the ACC, while the Tar Heels improve to 15-3 and 3-2 in the league.Â
T'yana Todd led the way with a game-high 18 points, highlighted by an 8-of-9 showing from the line.Â
Dontavia Waggoner scored 15 points with five rebounds and three steals. Savannah Samuel carded 12 points and a team-best seven off the glass. Andrea Daley rounded out the leading scorers with 10 points. The duo of Daley and Samuel scored 22 of the team's 27 bench points.Â
North Carolina broke a 7-7 tie in the first scoring 14 of the next six points, claiming a 21-13 lead with under a minute left. Tatum Greene's buzzer-beating trifecta gave BC with some momentum going into the second.Â
The Eagles withstood an early deficit in the first half, as they shot 60 percent in the second quarter to take a 40-37 lead into the break. BC started the quarter on an 11-1 hitting five of its first six field goals capped off by a Daley jumper.Â
Daley continued her hot stretch as she gave the visitors a 37-31 advantage for their largest lead of the game before UNC sliced the lead in half.Â
UNC set the tone in the third quarter, limiting the Eagles to 30 percent shooting from the floor. The Tar Heels went on an 11-2 surge that stretched a one-point lead to 10, 56-46. UNC went into the fourth with a 60-52 advantage.Â
North Carolina grew its lead by double digits in the fourth, eventually pulling away for the win.Â
BC returns to action on Thursday against Miami at 7 p.m. in Coral Gables.
