BC senior earns Eagles' third weekly honor after a three-sack day.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Boston College senior defensive end Donovan Ezeiruaku (Williamstown, N.J.) was voted the ACC Defensive Lineman of the Week as announced by the league on Monday afternoon. It marks Ezeiruaku's first career ACC weekly award and the third of the season for the Eagles.
Ezeiruaku dominated in BC's come-from-behind win over Western Kentucky on Saturday. He posted career-highs in tackles (14), sacks (3) and tackles for loss (four). His three-sack game was the first by an Eagle since 2018. Ezeiruaku's third sack of the day was a strip-sack that set up the Eagles inside the Hilltopper 30-yard line and led to Boston College's go-ahead touchdown with 3:33 left in the game.
The Eagles came back from their largest fourth-quarter deficit (13) in a win in program history. Ezeiruaku and the BC defense stopped Western Kentucky on all three of its fourth-quarter drives. He totaled four tackles and two sacks, including the forced fumble, in the fourth quarter alone.
For the season, Ezeiruaku is BC's top tackler at 33. He leads FBS in sacks (8) and sacks per game (1.6), while ranking third in tackles for loss (9.5), which is tops in the ACC. Ezeiruaku also stands fourth all-time in career sacks at BC with 21.5.
Ezeiruaku was also honored as the Breakout Defensive Player of the Week by the East-West Shrine Bowl.
The Eagles are 4-1 on the year and in action on the road this weekend at Virginia. Kickoff is slated for Saturday, Oct. 5 at Noon ET on ACC Network. BC's next home game is Friday, Oct. 25 against Louisville. Tickets are still available at BCEagles.com.
