No. 17 Eagles Set to Open 2024 Season

Eagles will face Northeastern and Boston University
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College field hockey is set to kick off its 2024 campaign at home this weekend on Friday at 5 p.m. vs. Northeastern, and on Sunday at 1 p.m. vs. Boston University. After finishing the 2023 season at 11-7 (2-4 ACC) and playing in the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament, the Eagles look to start strong at home before next weekend's ACC/Big Ten Challenge.
Boston College came in at No. 17 in the preseason NFHCA Coaches' Poll and is looking to notch its ninth straight win over the Huskies, a streak that dates back to 2015. The Eagles also look to stay hot against the Terriers, aiming for their seventh straight victory.Â
Captains Juliette Hijdra and Martina Giacchino will lead Boston College into the 2024 season. Hijdra started every game for the Eagles last season while serving as a captain, tallying one goal and three assists. Giacchino also started every game, notching three goals, while co-leading the team in assists with 10.Â
Both games will take place at the Newton Field Hockey Complex in Newton, Mass. Friday's contest will feature a pizza giveaway for fans in attendance, while Sunday's game is community day, in collaboration with women's soccer. Both games will air on the ACC Network Extra.
