
Nene Ndiaye Shines in World Cup Prequalifier with Senegal

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - Boston College women's basketball sophomore Nene Ndiaye will play on Team Senegal Aug. 19-25 for the FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup 2026 Pre-Qualifying Tournaments. The first game is on Monday at 11 a.m. EST against Hungary.
Ndiaye is coming off a solid freshman season, where she appeared in 30 of 33 games with one start. She posted a career-high 10 points with five rebounds against No. 16 Louisville in a career-high 24 minutes on the road
The forward shot a solid 82.9 percent from the charity stripe, hitting 29 of her 35 attempts.Â
Senegal was placed in Group C with Brazil, Hungary and the Philippines. Group C has been named the "Group of Death", as it features three teams ranked in the top 30. All games will be streamed on FIBA's Youtube Channel.Â
Group A: Korea, Mali, Czechia, Venezuela
Group B: Mexico, Montenegro, New Zealand, Mozambique
Group C: Brazil, Hungary, Senegal, Philippines
Group D: Rwanda, Great Britain, Argentina, Lebanon

- Senegal came up short in the final game of the pre-qualifier.Â
- Despite the setback, Senegal finished 4-1 with an earlier win over the eventual champions.
- Ndiaye chipped in with a 3-pointer and a block in the finale.Â
- For the tournament, she averaged 5.2 points, 3.6 rebounds and was a plus-40 in the five outings.Â

Game 4: Senegal 68, Rwanda 65 - Box Score
- Senegal edged Rwanda to advance to the finals tomorrow against Hungary.Â
- Ndiaye turned in her highest scoring effort of the tournament with nine points, two rebounds, one block and one steal.Â
- She hit a key 3-pointer in the third period that extended a one-possession lead to four points for Senegal.
- The finals will take place tomorrow at 11 a.m. ET. Senegal bested Hungary in a narrow 63-61 win in the first matchup.Â

Game 3: Senegal 87, Philippines 62 - Box Score
- Senegal coasted to a 25-point win to improve to 3-0.
- The team outscored the Philippines by 23 in the last three quarters of the game.Â
- Ndiaye finished with three points ,11 rebounds (six offensive) and tied a team-high with a plus-20 in 21 minutes of action.
- The sophomore forward continues her solid play, improving to a plus-37 over the past two games.Â
Game 2: Senegal 69, Brazil 59 - Box Score
- Team Senegal came back from an early 11-point deficit to improve to 2-0.
- Ndiaye played a solid game off the bench, posting five points, four rebounds, three assists.
- The forward's plus-17 in 22 minutes was the second highest on the team.
GAME 1: Senegal 63, Hungary 61 - Box Score
- Senegal began Pool Play with a narrow win over Hungary in the first game of the pre-qualifying tournament. Hungary came in as one of the favorites.Â
- Ndiaye chipped in with six points in 18 minutes.
- The sophomore hit a pair of 3-pointers in the first half, giving her team a 13-10 lead in the opening frame and later extending Senegal's lead to nine in the second period, forcing Hungary to call a timeout.
- Senegal returns to action tomorrow at 2 p.m. local time against Brazil.
