Four Named to WGCA All-American Scholar Team

Quartet of Eagles honored for excellence in academics
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. — Four Boston College women's golfers were honored by the  Women's Golf Coaches Association for their academic excellence.
Emily Böhrer, Maya Obermüller, Canice Screene, and Cynthia Zhang were named to the 2023-24 WGCA All-American Scholar Team. Â Nearly 1,500 women's collegiate golfers from over 400 programs were recognized with this prestigious honor. Â The BC quartet also earned All-ACC Academic team honors this past June.Â
Böhrer appeared in nine tournaments in 2023-24, registering a stroke average of 74.9 over 27 rounds of play. Â Her best finish of the year came at the Nittany Lion Invitational on Sept 3-4, 2023, tying for third place.
Obermüller made five starts for the Eagles in her first collegiate season, posting her best finish at the Intercollegiate at Prospect Bay - tying for eighth.
Screene played in eight tournaments during the 2023-24 campaign, registering three top 10 finishes. Â During the fall, she tied for fifth at the Red Bandanna Invitational and tied for ninth at the Diamante Classic.
Zhang was BC's leader in stroke average, registering 73.9 through nine tournaments and 27 rounds played. Â The sophomore posted five top 10 and seven top 15 finishes for the Eagles in 2023-24.
Academic requirements for selection to the WGCA All-American Scholar team are as follows:

Academic requirements for selection to the WGCA All-American Scholar team are as follows:
- Have an overall cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher
- Be an amateur and on the team's roster through the conclusion of the team's seasonÂ
- Have played in 50% of the college's regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year nominated through the team's conference championship
