ACC Championship Run Ends for BC Softball

DURHAM, N.C.-- Ninth-seeded Boston College pushed No.4 and first-seeded Duke to an extra innings duel with the winning run in the 10th, at the Duke Softball Stadium on Thursday afternoon. The loss eliminated the Eagles from the ACC Championship. While the Blue Devils moved on to Friday's semifinals.
Abby Dunning got the start for the Eagles and delivered a strong performance after dealing 7 innings of work yesterday. Abby threw another 10 innings today, striking out 6, while allowing just 6 hits on 146 pitches.
The score remained locked through nine innings. The Eagles were able to get in striking position in the fifth with runners on first and second. Freshman shortstop Gator Robinson singled to left field, Slike on second, ran through third and was tagged out at home plate. Neither team's offense was able to gain position on third through the back half of the day.Â
The game closed in the tenth inning with a Duke walk-off two-run homer. Â
The Eagles close out the season 30-24, and 10-16 in conference play. The Eagles had its most winning season since 2017.
